REES Plaza at East Wharf

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Located in the city’s premier lakeside restaurant and office park, REES Plaza reflects its natural environmental and pays tribute to the surrounding Lake Hefner Trails with its unique earth-water design.

Surrounded by jogging trails and bike paths, the lakeside office building provides several amenities to occupants, including spectacular views from over 90% of spaces. The interior of the building is designed to have perfect daylighting, allowing the offices to run without overhead electrical lighting most days, which in turn eliminates a major source of indoor heat gain. Task lights are provided at workstations to maximize lighting flexibility for employees.

The three-story 42,000 square-foot building is the largest and final piece of East Wharf Development at Lake Hefner. Natural local materials, such as stacked-stone veneer, as well as copper and wood are implemented into the design, respectfully “blending” the building into its park setting. The heat-island effect is minimized by using a cool-roofing system.

The side of the building facing land incorporates wood and stone elements that appear to “anchor” it to the land. The lakeside portion of the building was designed to have a maritime appearance, using steel and glass materials. The overhangs and terraces add to the horizontal sleek, “ship like” appearance.
