LEED Registration - The Right Decision
LEED Registered – The Right Decision
Everyone wants to be sustainable in help the environment as much as possible. Architecture and Development is no different. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), is a registration and certification process scoring and determining the savings your facility is providing to the environment. LEED is an internationally recognized third-party verification providing a simple framework for real change. It costs less than $1000 to register a new construction project, and the registration provides the possibility of achieving sustainable design on your project by applying the LEED rating tools early in the process.
Once you signal your intent to register your project, your design team will begin the process of officially registering your project with the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). Part of this submission is an official LEED scorecard. The LEED scorecard is completed at the beginning of a project while design and project goals are being set to steer the direction of the project through completion. The scorecard is referenced throughout the design process, and if the registered project seeks certification, throughout construction as well.
There are several considerations when making this decision:
- Your LEED Registered project saves money & time.
- By registering your project, you are ahead of the game. Certification is just a design away, and it is much more likely to happen when you register early.
- The Team knows what you want. Now we all work together to get you there.
- By registering, you’re project will be guided by LEED principals which should help drive good decision making.
- LEED Certified buildings use only 75% of the energy of a non-certified building.
- Your LEED Registered project sends a message.
- If your organization is serious about ecological stewardship, or simply committed to sustainable principals, registering your project is the right first step.
- Once your project is registered, you are counted in the official USGBC statistics as such. Your project name then appears on a list broken down by state for all to see.
- Your LEED Registered project is something you can be proud of.
- Not all organizations have the foresight to register their projects. It is the first step toward setting yourselves apart. Congratulations!
